Letter to Ida Mae from Mags

Dear Ida Mae,

No, I ain’t dead, and I decided I ‘m gonna take you up on yor invite. I’m sendin this pitcher so you’ll know what to expect when I git there. We haven’t had a good ole chit chat in a coon’s age, and I figgered it was now or never, so get ready. I jes  hope our ole car holds up for the trip. I still got my license, so I’ll be drivin. It shouldn’t take but a little over a hour if we don’t break down.

Yeah, ole Horace is, I won’t say still kickin,’ but he’s for sure Mr. Grump, firs class. I wish I could leave him at home but rilly he can’t git along by hisself. And he’s deaf as a post, too, so it should be interestin how him and Frank will talk to each other. He don’t talk much to me, a’tall. I guess he figgers we been togetha for 56 years and I oughta know what he’s thinkin. Ain’t that romantic?

As long as we’re comin, I hope it’s ok with you if we stay fer awhile. To tell you tha truth, I’m so bored here in this house I could spit.  I need a vacation and it looks like this is it. Don’t worry, I’ll help with tha dishes and tha cookin. We’ll have a gran ole time, laughin and carryin on. So, how ‘bout we come a coupla days before Frank’s birthday and you and me can git some presents and make him a humdinger of a cake. You got any friends you wanta invite? Make it a reglar party?

My phone number is 830-256-9801 but Horace tole me I could only use it for a emergence.

Oh, Ida Mae, it’s gonna be so good to be there and have somebody fun to talk to. I’m rilly lookin for’d to this visit. But if that time don’t suit, lemme know.

See ya soon I hope, an tell Frank hello. HELLO FRANK. Ha ha ha

xoxo

I’m sendin this pitcher so you’ll know what to expect when I git there. *HAHAHAHAHA!! Like, in case Ida Mae thinks Mag still looks like she did when they last saw each other decades ago. (And the picture!! OMG!!!!) Please keep these coming, Katharine!! I find them uproarious!!

I'm so glad!! Thanks a lot!!! This is so much fun. I get to write dialogue, my favorite thing to write, and throw in some slop Southern slang--heaven. :) I'll tell you another reason it's fun is getting your terrific comments! As I said, they make my day!

You sweet talk-uh! xoxo
