A Day In Time

A Day In Time

Day dawning,

Misty’s meow.

Morning mizzle

Coffee’s call.

City’s cry,

Mundane merge.

Commuters course,

Clouds clearing.

Time tolls,

Office opens.

Tasks tedium,

Lunch lulls.

Parks peace,

Solitude sweet.

Briefly breathe,

Afternoons advance.

Slowly slipping,

Boredom brewing.

Work wanes,

Homeward head.

Daylight dying,

Sausage sizzling.

Dinner done,

Dishes draining.

Sofa’s solace,

TV’s tales.

Setting sun,

Twilight’s touch.

Night’s nudge,

Misty murmurs.

Petting purrs,

Tranquillity time.

Sleep summons,

Dreams drifting.

Days dance,

Essence ending.

Note: Misty is one of my cats

The Words That Got to Me

Office opens.... Tasks tedium... Lunch lulls.... Park's peace, - a much needed break? but then Afternoons advance. Slowly slipping, Boredom brewing.

I love that you have (am assuming that you do) lunch in the park. That IS a peaceful setting. Rejuvenating to some degree? Sorry, though, that office tasks are tedious, but later dinner and quiet evening with TV and furry friends -- tranquil. I don't know what your job entails, but if you could do (or be) anything, what would it be? You are so smart, I wish you could spend your day doing what makes you happy.

I do now spend my days doing as I wish. Formerly, I was a registered nurse for many years, and after that I worked a few different office-type jobs. Now, though, my time is my own to read, write and enjoy what life has to offer. This poem was not based on a particular day, though; it is more an imagining and composite of many.

Glad to know that's you're happy.

The Words That Got to Me

Night’s nudge, *I made myself choose only one "favorite," and this is it.

I love the simplicity of this...yet can recognize easily that making it so cohesive and appealing could NOT have been easy whatsoever. You kept it dreamy and lazy and lulling, yet still managed to produce an entire day's worth of actions! Really, you are so tremendously creative. I know I've told you this before, but I usually can't stand alliterative poetry because it feels so contrived in so many spots. But this was not the case with this creation even once. It flowed like a lovely, conversational foray and presented a well-organized and vividly displayed tableau. So well done, my love! xoxo
