Thanks, Katharine. I got my inspiration from the Bi-Weekly Poetry Challenge Tim offered up this week, but his requirements were that the TYPE of poem had to reflect the shape of it. This isn't a "format," per se, just a stylized visual. Thanks for the feedback. You know I always appreciate what you say. xoxo

The Words That Got to Me
Into the abyss A powerful image, describing an empty, yawning cavern; despair; hopelessness...
I really liked the layout, echoing the leap into an abyss. This was a superb poem, taking us to the depths of a dark relationship.

I was inspired by Tim's Bi-Weekly Poetry Challenge, but I knew this didn't comply with the rules of that Challenge. Still, I thought I'd give it a go. Thanks for this kind and helpful review. xoxo

I don't know if this kind of poem has a name, but it is certainly effective, especially in a sad piece such as this -- the spiraling down, no positive resolution. Of course, I wondered why it felt like that. The reason that it was wrong was mysterious. It certainly didn't feel like a sustainable love. A very visual way to format such a doomed relationship. Very attention-getting and very sad.
