Thumb Think

just kidding

Thumb Think

I am from an earlier age

when we used all of our fingers

to type out a letter, a story, or

a lovely poem that lingers;

typing as we thought of words

until the thought was written;

but it’s like kids think today

that fingers are forbidden.

Flying thumbs is what I call them,

zipping o’er the letters

while their fingers curl, unused,

bowing to their betters.

I guess the reason they use thumbs

instead of all their digits

is they’re only using two

and not ten, lazy igits!

The Words That Got to Me

Flying thumbs is what I call them, zipping o’er the letters Yes! How do they do it?

This was a fabulous poem, highlighting the difference between a technologically savvy generation and the rest of us beings. I loved your use of wit and social commentary here.

Thanks, Rachel! I'm still having trouble navigating my new cell phone..

I love this, Katharine, and I don't know how they do it. Takes me an age to send a text, and then it's usually full of typos. Fat finger syndrome, I call it.

Thanks, Tim! ditto what you said :)
