Greggie and Gran - two

Gran, you know what I want to be when I grow up?

No, darlin’. What do you want to be?

Well, this is a new idea I just thought of and I want you to tell me what you think.

Okay. What is it?

I mean it’s something I’d like to have now, but I don’t know if I would when I’m a grown up.

Hmmm. You’ve got me thinking all kinds of wild things.

Really? Like what?

Oh, like you might like to own a circus and train lions to jump through hoops and…

Wow, Gran, you think of really far out weird things.

Oh? Well, why don’t you tell me what you want to be.

Um. I was thinkin’ it’d be cool to own a store that sold only two things.

Two things. Okay. I’m listening. What are they?

Well, one part would be a bakery and have cakes and pies and cookies and good stuff like that.

That sounds lovely and yummy. What’s the other thing your store would have?

It would have pets, dogs, cats, birds, lizards and maybe snakes. What do you think?

Well first off, what do think the smell of all those animals would be when you walked into your store?

Animally?

Yes, and it would not be a good smell to go with cakes and pies and cookies, do you think?

I wouldn’t mind it.

Well, maybe your store would have to be for little boys only. In fact, it could be called Cakes to Snakes. Boys Only.

But then you couldn’t come, or Mom.

That’s true.

But that’s a neat name! I like it. And we’d have the only one in the whole world.

More than likely.

Thanks, Gran. You are so cool!

Another really cute and fun tale from a grandma. I love this little lad; he has that unquenchable curiosity and ineffable wisdom that can only come from that time of life when the world is still full of wonder and reality is simply a playground for imagination

" reality is simply a playground for imagination." What a wonderful phrase to capture the way children see things.! I want to thank you for urging me on. I love writing about these two, and I appreciate your reading them.
