Gravity Between

A haiku string

Gravity Between

your sleeve grazes mine
too brief to mean anything
too long to forget

in the hush between
your laugh and my answer hides
what we do not say

steam curls from our mugs
we stare at the space that parts
what is, and almost

you lean on silence
as if it could hold your weight
it nearly does so

I count your glances
like footsteps to a locked door
we never open

The Words That Got to Me

I count your glances like footsteps to a locked door we never open wow. powerful

very poignant and touching ad beautifully expressed. You truly have a way with words, delightful to read, whatever the message.

Oh wow!! What a GREAT idea: to stack haiku into a beautiful story! I loved your technique of taking us along with you on this burgeoning (unrequited, though?) encounter. Genius! Leave it to you. xoxo

Thank you, Rachelle. I enjoy haikus, but I wanted to push them further. This was what I ended up with.

When pushing boundaries is a beautiful thing!! xoxo

This was a super set of haikus - I loved the idea of an almost - relationship hovering on the edges of these tiny moments.

It was both a challenge and very rewarding to work on this series. It is good to know others also find it enjoyable to read.
