Special thanks to Tim Margetts for suggesting that visual form can add to a poem's enjoyment

Up and Down

What's

making

the number

on this scale grow?

The cakes and cookies?

The pasta and ice cream?

The late-night pantry visits?

Perhaps the incessant whipped cream?

The All-You-Can-Eat festivals?

It is time to halt indulgences.

Be more frugal with calories.

Concentrate on veg-tables.

Become friends with green foods

(Not mint ice cream..)

Drink more water.

Exercise.

I hate

Scales.

The Words That Got to Me

Become friends with green foods (Not mint ice cream) - Ah, life is cruel!

I loved the shapely bulge in the middle (unfortunately, rather too familiar these days). A fun, relatable poem.

Hahaha. I knew you'd love that part, Rachel. Our sick sense of humor, don'tcha know. xoxox

The Words That Got to Me

What's making the number on this scale grow? (to quote the King of Siam) Is a puzzlement. it is time to halt indulgences. Be more frugal with calories. that's the ticket!

and then the examples, ae-yi - yieeee! car-r-ramba! etc. the trick is not to picture these things in your mind as you read them. Pretend they are nails and screws and washers. I think I am friends with lettuce - needed for salads, wraps, burgers, BLTs, etc., and zero calories. and carrot sticks although they sure haven't helped my vision any. The little stinkers. Late night pantry visits - got me there. Reading your list isn't helping things, you realize, Rachelle. They just went from your do -not list to my grocery list. Still, a neat poem, visually and taste bud pleasant!

Thank you, my dear...and my apologies!! xoxox
