Moonlight hums on stone,
soft as secrets left unsaid.
Echoed steps have flown,
shadows dance where dreams have fled.
Silver mist is blown,

Winds that chill the bone,
whispers lost where sorrows spread.
Embers glow alone,
ashen prayers drift on ahead.
Fires once brightly shone,
fading into words unread.
Secrets flicker, dim as distant light,
vanish softly in the endless night.

A Ripple Poem - Form created by me early last year.
Stanza Structure:
The poem consists of three quatrains (four-line stanzas) followed by a final couplet (two-line stanza), totalling 14 lines.
Syllabic Pattern:
Quatrains: Each line follows a 5-7-5-7 syllable count.
Couplet: Each line has 9 syllables.
Rhyme Scheme:
Quatrains: Employ an ABAB rhyme scheme.
Couplet: Both lines rhyme, forming a CC pattern.
Refrain:
The second line of the first quatrain is repeated as the second line of the second quatrain. The final couplet should echo this refrain through variation rather than exact repetition, providing a twist, revelation, or deeper insight.
Thematic Element:
The poem should explore a central theme, with each quatrain approaching it from a different angle or perspective, culminating in the couplet that offers resolution or a poignant conclusion.

I just love the tutelage here!! I will try one f these this week, myself. Thank you for the training. This one is descriptive and alluring, very visceral in its word choices and how it sets the stage in my mind of what you're describing.
