Once upon a time,
in a suburb far from here,
lived a man named Morris,
whose days were full of fear.
He liked to keep his windows shut,
afraid of wasps and bees,
not to mention pollen that
could blow in from the trees.
He steered away from town events,
because, what if, while there,
rain began and lightning struck
and set fire to his hair?
Morris worried, too, that if
he watched too much tv,
the Forces on the other side
would know what he could see.
He kept his diet free from foods
like fish and meat and eggs
'cause what if they were tainted
and he grew fat, feathered legs!
Morris worried all day long
and ne'er ran out of fodder.
Too much chocolate! Gamma rays!
Contaminates in water!
Soon, he heard some passers-by
laugh, "There's that kooky Morris!"
He's afraid of everything.
What a nut!" their chorus.
Morris put his helmet on,
his opaque goggles, too,
and felt completely safe because
their taunts could not get through.
But neither could the loud, harsh crack
of his gigantic oak.
And, so, it fell and crushed him hard.
Poor Morris! No more woke.
