Hearts Upon The Rocks
Verse 1
We’re back at the same place again,
Where the tide comes in too fast,
You’re looking at me like you’re leaving,
Like this might be our last.
There’s something in the silence,
Something we don’t say,
And I can feel it slipping
If we let it drift away.
Pre-Chorus
Don’t let go now
Not like this
Chorus
Stay—don’t let it fall apart,
We’re too close to breaking,
Don’t turn away, don’t close your heart,
This is ours for taking.
If we move too fast, we lose it all,
Every word could tip the cost,
We’re still holding on tonight—
Two hearts upon the rocks.
Verse 2
You’re right here but you’re distant,
Like you’ve already gone,
And I’m trying just to reach you
Before the moment’s done.
We don’t need forever,
Just don’t walk away,
’Cause we’re standing on a line here
That could disappear today.
Pre-Chorus
Don’t let go now
Don’t let this slip
Chorus
Stay—don’t let it fall apart,
We’re too close to breaking,
Don’t turn away, don’t close your heart,
This is ours for taking.
If we move too fast, we lose it all,
Every word could tip the cost,
We’re still holding on tonight—
Two hearts upon the rocks.
Instrumental
Bridge
One wrong word, one step too far,
And everything we are
Falls into the dark…
So stay—just stay.
Outro - Build
Stay—don’t let it fall apart,
We’re too close to breaking,
Just don’t—don’t you close your heart,
This is ours for taking.
Stay—don’t let it slip away,
Don’t give up what we’ve got,
We’re still holding on tonight—
Two hearts upon the rocks.
Outro - Lift
Stay—don’t let it fall apart!
We’re too close—too close to breaking!
Don’t turn away, don’t close your heart,
This is ours for taking!
Stay—don’t let it slip away,
Don’t let go of what we’ve got—
We’re still here, we’re still not gone—
Two hearts upon the rocks!
Finale Peak - Release
Stay…
Don’t let it fall apart…
We’re not gone…
Not yet…
Two hearts…
upon the rocks.

The Words That Got to Me
'Where the tide comes in too fast, You’re looking at me like you’re leaving, Like this might be our last', 'Like you've already gone' and 'We're too close to breaking' - I thought these lines really showed us a relationship on the brink of change and the anxiety the narrator/singer felt.
Suggestions / Possible Tweaks
'Every word could tip the cost,' didn't quite land for me. Did you mean it could tip the balance? I'm not sure 'cost' worked for that.
I couldn't get the link to work unfortunately. I thought the different sections worked well together. I particularly liked the use of a bridge and outro to build the emotional intensity of this yearning love song.
