Zorblat: [squinting at the screen] So… you’re telling me that’s their mating ritual? Waving tiny glowing rectangles in front of their faces and grimacing?
Flarn: Of course, it’s fundamental to the survival of the bipedal species
Zorblat: Apps? You mean they’ve evolved to bypass the messy biology entirely? Efficient.
Flarn: They still do the biology. I think, but we are not sure if it is part of the breeding program or a source of punishment. They scream a lot.
Zorblat: [leaning closer] And that one? The bipedal in a box, moving rapidly along the ground with others, all honking at one another?
Flarn: [with absolute conviction] That is one of their leaders. They sit inside their “carriage of power,” commanding others to follow.
Zorblat: But no one’s actually following.
Flarn: Exactly! It’s a test of loyalty. Those who fail to follow are eliminated.
Zorblat: [wincing] Harsh.
Flarn: It’s their way. Only the strongest—or the loudest—survive.
Zorblat: [leaning closer] Look at that one! [points at a man jogging in neon lycra] That’s a mating display, right? Bright colours, rhythmic movement, attracting a partner—classic biology.
Flarn: It’s not a mating display; that is a part of their ritualistic obeisance to the cheeseburger?
Zorblat: Cheeseburger. [tastes the word] That’s their most sacred foodstuff, yes? A symbol of prosperity and a homage to the sacred cheese?
Flarn: It’s one of them; they have shrines to them on every continent
Zorblat: [after a long silence] Why is that one hitting the ground with a stick?
Flarn: Now that activity has been studied in detail. We have come to realise they are laying eggs in a ritualistic activity called gulf
Zorblat: Gulf?... Fascinating. Tell me about it
Flarn: The aim is to prepare an egg for hatching by tenderising it with the stick. They then place the egg in a series of small holes where we believe it gathers nutrients.
Zorblat: Ingenious! What next?
Flarn: If the egg is properly prepared, they strike it in a manner that sends it to a nest hidden deep in bushes or underwater. Those that fail, they take away with them… We have no idea what happens to the eggs after that.
Zorblat: I’m starting to think this species is deeply confused…[pointing at the screen] Look! That bipedal has another creature on a chain! Clearly, it’s a display of dominance.
Flarn: [smugly crossing arms] Oh, no, Zorblat. Quite the opposite. That creature is a Goodboy, the overlord. The bipedal is the servant.
Zorblat: The servant? But the bipedal holds the chain!
Flarn: Exactly! A clever ruse to mask their subservience. Notice how the bipedal dutifully picks up its excrement. I rest my case.
Zorblat: [horrified] By the stars! They’ve enslaved the bipedals. Diabolical.
Flarn: I hear the goodboys achieved this through sheer charisma. No weapons, no threats—just rear appendage wafting and soulful eyes. Remarkable strategists.
Zorblat: [squinting] But what about that one? The smaller creature, unchained, staring through the window with murderous intent?
Flarn: Ah, yes. The Furball
Zorblat: What is its purpose?
Flarn: No one knows. Even the bipedals seem uncertain. They provide the furballs with food, shelter, and worship… yet receive nothing in return. It’s a fascinating power dynamic.
Zorblat: [awed] So they’re like… gods?
Flarn: [nodding sagely] Possibly. Or perhaps spies. Observe how they disappear for hours at a time and return with no explanation. They could be gathering intel for an impending furball coup.
Zorblat: [narrowing eyes] That tracks. And what’s that bipedal doing? The one wearing a shiny fabric, repeatedly throwing a stick?
Flarn: A servant to their goodboy overlord, obviously. The stick represents a symbolic offering. The goodboy rejects it, forcing the bipedal to retrieve it again. It’s a brutal cycle of humiliation.
Zorblat: [suddenly alarmed] Wait, what’s that? The one holding a flat disc, spinning it like a ritual object?
Flarn: That’s called a “pizza.” It’s their ultimate invention.
Zorblat: [excited] A weapon? A source of energy?
Flarn: No. A nutrient. They bake it, place the finished circle in a square box, and then devour it in triangles. It’s a display of their dominance over geometry.
Zorblat: [after a long pause] Flarn, I don’t think we’re ready to invade this planet.
Flarn: [solemnly] Agreed. Their rituals are too advanced. And the furballs… they scare me.

HAHAHAHAH!! I remember the first time I heard a comedian say that if aliens came and saw dogs being walked, they would have to assume the dogs were the planet's leaders. This was just pure fun - an amalgam of "best of" several comedy sketches I've heard throughout the years but offered up in an irresistible package that, yet again, leaves "furballs," thanks to their mystique, at the top of the metaphoric food chain. The "gulf" was especially hilarious. That schtick I'd never heard before. (Is that the English spelling, though?) Very cute and fun from beginning to end, Tim. It's been a sweltering week here in New York, so I appreciated the conduit to escape for a bit!! xoxox
