As the Tuffet Tumbles: The Multi-Faceted Life and Times of Miss Muffet.

You’ve heard the case of Little Miss Muffet,

terrified off her comfortable tuffet.

Spiders are a scary lot

They make me wish I were a bot!

“A spider climbed down and scared me witless!”

Calling Little Boy Blue as her witness,

But I don’t think a girl should be

Judged because one makes her flee.

she took that scared spider to court, it’s true

for making her drop her bowl of curd stew.

So what if eight legs make me scream?

It doesn’t mean I’m not supreme!

“I’m innocent!” Spider swore. “Not to blame!”

Miss Muffet protested, “Have you no shame?

Deep inside, I know I’m strong.

I fight injustice all day long.

“You crept down beside me, you hairy-legged beast.

Your greedy gnashers were keen on my feast.”

Friends get picked on? I defend!

On my strength, they all depend.

“Stop yelling,” ordered Judge Mother Goose.

“No insults in my court; call it a truce.”

Puppies left out in the cold?

I will save them; I’m that bold.

Miss Muffet moaned, “He ruined my dinner!”

“That spider is a serious sinner.”

Teachers who assign too much?

I finish first: my brilliant touch.

Spider shifted sideways, keen to survive.

It’s hard when young girls don’t want you alive.

People who refuse to work?

In their lazy soul, I’ll lurk.

Frightened of spiders? No, that was a fib.

She and Boy Blue were so grinning and glib.

I am not all nicey-nice;

I make bad guys pay a price.

Accused spider twitched legs, and blinked eight eyes,

decided to expose mean Muffet’s lies.

Truth be told, I fight for good,

Righting wrongs, just as I should.

“You dumped crusty curds and whey on the ground.

Chose me as fall guy, made a screaming sound.”

Patronize ‘cause I’m a girl?

I’ll ball my fists at you and whirl.

The judge frowned at this new turn of events;

the air grew heavy, the atmosphere tense.

Stars like me won’t be put down.

I stomp oppression to the ground.

“Lying in court is both rude and immense.”

“What really happened? You’d better make sense.”

Miss Muffet isn’t scared of you!

You don’t have EIGHT legs, right? Just two!

“I hate that slop,” Miss Muffet admitted.

“I thought I had my mother outwitted.”

Superman has kryptonite.

For me, eight legs bring on my fright.

Little Boy Blue turned red as a cherry,

now he and his girl were not so merry.

Against things normal, though, I’m tough.

Curds and whey? They make me buff!

Sent off to jail for a week and a day,

made to eat disgusting cold curds and whey.

I wear no cape; that part is true.

My Tuffet Power will get me through!

Avenged and free, Spider scuttled off fast,

glad to be rid of Miss Muffet at last.

Heroes are both large and small

But, oh! My virtue says it all.

Now the moral of the story is clear:

Spinning spiders are not the ones to fear.

If you perform a wrongful deed,

Taking action is my creed.

When youngsters sit beside you for a meal,

check their intentions are honest and real.

Do not try me or you’ll be

Much less healthy, happy, free.

Beware kids that offer treats delightful:

Their smiles hide natures savage and spiteful.

I’m a superhero-fighter!

(Just don’t let me see a spider.)
