The Words That Got to Me

The repeated Re-...'s are beautifully placed, acting as a chance to reset and move on. "Exacerbate. Infuriate. Eviscerate. Celebrate." What a glorious escalation leading to an almost exuberant punchline.

The very simplicity is what makes this work. There is no ornamentation, just a sequence of actions that lead to an inevitable conclusion. The title does all the work and gives us the lens through which to read the poem. Turning it from a sequence of words into a meaningful process of conquest.
