Write a poem inspired by the theme "The Color of Silence." What color would you assign to silence, and why? I think it is gray, Like clouds full of rain that just drift away. Like dust on old pictures left high on a shelf, Or words never spoken we keep to ourselves. Sometimes it's blue like the end of the day, When sunlight is fading and slipping away. Like oceans between us though we're side by side, With too much to say and too much to hide. Sometimes it's gold like a memory's glow, Of people and places we once used to know. A warm kind of ache that won't quite depart, Still painting its colors across a worn heart. And sometimes it's black as a moonless night sky, Filled with the questions that never ask why. The things left unfinished, the tears never shown, The roads we imagined but walked all alone. What color is silence? It changes with time. It isn't just absence, and isn't confined. It's every emotion that lingers unseen, Painted in shades of what might have been.
